Beverly Hills Cheek Implants
Plastic Surgeon Helping You Get the Sky-High Cheekbones You've Always Wanted
Beverly Hills plastic surgeons now offer multiple procedures to augment the middle of the face, increasing projection of the cheeks. Cheek augmentation is intended to restore fullness that has been lost due to aging, or increase cheek projection to achieve a better facial balance.*
Is Cheek Augmentation right for you?
If you have weak cheekbones or if you have lost fullness in the cheek tissue due to aging, you may want to consider a cheek augmentation procedure.
If the middle of your face is flat or hollow, the cause may be a combination of factors including:
- Inadequate underlying bone structure
- Age related loss of tissue (lipoatrophy)
If you are concerned about these cosmetic issues, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with Dr. Aboolian to determine possible solutions. Cheek augmentation can be performed alone or in conjunction with procedures such as eyelid surgery and facelift surgery.
Cheek augmentation can be successfully done with surgical and non-surgical methods. Each method involves placement of a cheek implant: filler material can be injected, or a silicone rubber implant can be surgically placed.
Cheek implants come in a variety of shapes and sizes to match the facial characteristics of each patient. They can be surgically placed through a small incision in your upper lip or lower eyelid. Dr. Aboolian creates a pocket for the implant and secures it below the facial tissue.
With the latest dermal fillers, a long-lasting result is possible without surgery. Products such as Radiesse, Juvederm and Restylane are all available at our Beverly Hills plastic surgery practice. Dr. Aboolian may recommend one of these fillers for a cheek augmentation procedure. Using a numbing cream or dental block to manage discomfort, the filler is injected into the cheeks to increase projection. In many cases, the stimulation of your body’s own collagen will produce long-lasting results.*
What to Expect After Cheek Augmentation
Both methods of cheek augmentation will produce results that are immediately visible. You should see fewer wrinkles and a supple, more voluminous facial appearance.*
Recovery times vary, depending on the method chosen and if other procedures are done in conjunction with your cheek augmentation. It will take some time for swelling to subside. With a dermal filler, the results can last 6-14 months. Cheek implants will remain unless you choose to have them taken out.
Possible Complications With Cheek Augmentation
Possible side effects include but are not limited to discomfort, swelling, infection around the implant or rejection of the implant. If you’re choosing to undergo treatment with a dermal filler, ask for more information about that specific product and its possible side effects.
