Ultrasonic Liposuction
Dr. Aboolian is proud to offer the latest technologies in liposuction, including the ULTRASOUND ASSISTED LIPOPLASTY (UAL). This advanced body contouring system uses ultrasound pressure waves to liquefy fat, thus making fat removal gentler, easier and less traumatic. Results are immediate and exceptional.
The Ultrasonic Liposuction Difference
There are several key benefits of choosing UAL for your liposuction procedure, including:
- Promotes optimum skin retraction
- Does not heat or destroy the fat cells
- Minimizes blood lost during surgery
- Allows for more fat removal
- Less pain and minimal bruising, if any
- Smaller incisions
- Faster recovery of 2 to 5 days
How Ultrasonic Liposuction Works
Ultrasonic liposuction employs mechanical and acoustic forces to emulsify fat within the targeted areas. Just like in traditional liposuction, a tumescent fluid is infused throughout the area. This tumescent fluid contains tiny gas bubbles, which become dispersed throughout the tissue, infiltrating between individual fat cells.
Here’s where it gets interesting: with a titanium probe, the Ultrasonic liposuction system delivers waves of ultrasound pressure to the targeted area, alternating between high and low pressures. The waves push and pull on the gas bubbles, making them expand. This rapid expansion causes fat cells to dislodge from the surrounding tissue. Because the gas bubbles cannot infiltrate the cells of your nerves or blood vessels, these tissues are unaffected by the process.
Once the UAL has liquefied the fat cells, Dr. Aboolian then uses small tubes called cannulas to remove the emulsified fat with suction. The result is a highly selective process of fat removal that is gentler both on the patient and the doctor.
Frequently Asked Questions About Ultrasound Liposuction
How long has Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction been used by plastic surgeons?
Once the UAL has liquefied the fat cells, Dr. Aboolian then uses small tubes called cannulas to remove the emulsified fat with suction. The result is a highly selective process of fat removal that is gentler both on the patient and the doctor.
Can UAL be used during other procedures?
Dr. Aboolian may recommend this technology for a variety of procedures in body contouring, such as with abdominoplasty, bodylift, neck contouring and upper arm tightening
What parts of the body can be treated?
Nearly any body area can be contoured with liposuction. For more details, see the liposuction page of this site.
How much fat can be removed with UAL?
Safe liposuction has limits to the volume of fat that can be removed. The general guideline is to assume the surgery can remove any loose, hanging fat that is present on the body. Liposuction is not designed for weight loss, but for selectively removing stubborn fat pockets.
