Scar Revision
Scar formation caused by accidents, trauma, or surgery itself are unpredicatable. Long waiting periods of a year or greater is recommended before decisions on repair are made. Scar development depends on many factors such as the size and depth of the wound, the blood supply to the area, your skin, and the direction of the scar. Scars can form as keloids, hypertrophic scars, contracture scars and other variations. Superficial scar tissue cannot be completely removed; however it can be improved and often minimally recognizable. Scar revision can also be enhanced with injections of dilute steroid, radiation treatment, through surgical revision, tattooing or perhaps a combination of all the above.
