Restylane Beverly Hills
Restylane is a popular wrinkle filler used for the temporary correction of facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane is made with a special non-animal, stabilized hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronic can be found naturally in your body. It acts as a cell protector, cushioning agent and space filler in the skin. The newest addition to the Restylane line is called “Restylane-L” which contains anesthetic for a more comfortable injection.
Over time, your skin loses volume as hyaluronic acid gets depleted. With a wrinkle filler like Restylane, we can restore that volume to reduce the appearance of conditions such as:
- Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
- Marionette lines
- Hollow tear trough area
- Thin lips or lip wrinkles
How Restylane Treatment Works
Before your treatment, the skin is cleansed and a topical anesthetic is applied (if needed) to numb the area. Using a fine needle, the doctor injects Restylane using a special technique, placing the product at a specific depth below the dermis. A brief massage of the injected area will ensure smooth placement of the filler. Beneath the skin surface, Restylane does the following:
- Combines with your naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid
- Binds with water
- Increases skin volume and hydration
What to Expect After Treatment With Restylane
Restylane is biodegradable and long lasting. After treatment, your body will begin to break down, metabolize, and eventually clear away the product. Your results can last 6 to 12 months but duration may vary, so ask Dr. Aboolian when you should return for a touch-up treatment.
During the first 24 hours after your injection(s), you may be advised to avoid certain activities such as exercise, sun exposure and alcohol consumption. If you experience swelling in the treated area, Dr. Aboolian may instruct you to apply ice for a short period of time. Side effects of Restylane are typically mild or moderate in nature. They include but are not limited to redness, tenderness, firmness, swelling, bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. Ask us for more information if you are concerned about these adverse events.
