Eyelid surgery Beverly Hills

As you age, your skin stretches and fat collects around your eyes, causing "eye bags."

Before surgery, Dr. Aboolian marks the incision sites, which follow the natural lines and creases of your upper and lower eyelids.

Excess fat, along with loose skin and muscle, can be removed during blepharoplasty.

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, involves removal of excess skin and/or fat from the upper and lower eyelids to help restore a more energetic and youthful appearance.

For the upper eyelids, eyelid surgery corrects the droopy and tired look, while for the lower lids it gets rid of the “puffy bags” and wrinkles.

Who can benefit from eyelid surgery in Beverly Hills?

Patients who can benefit from eyelid surgery are those with one or more of the following:

  • Excess skin around the eyes
  • Puffy, tired-looking eyes
  • Bags and wrinkles under the eyes

How is eyelid surgery done?

Dr. Aboolian’s Beverly Hills practice performs hundreds of eyelid surgeries on men and women each year. The upper or lower lids can be done alone, together, or in combination with other facial procedures as needed.

If the sagging of the upper lids is the cause of visual impairment, this procedure may be covered under some health insurance policies.

The crow’s feet (fine wrinkles on the lateral side of the eyes) may be improved either during facelift surgery by cutting the muscles responsible or by using Botox to paralyze the same muscles.

The fine wrinkles seen commonly on the lower eyelids may be removed with either Botox or by improving the skin texture around the eyes with chemical peels or laser resurfacing.

In patients with prominent tear troughs (sunken in or hollowed out areas below the eyes), fat grafting can help rid of the hollowed look commonly seen in the lower eyelid area.

Plastic Surgeon Dr. Aboolian performs most of his surgeries at the Multispecialty Surgical Group operating room, which is located next to his office in Beverly Hills.

What can I expect after eyelid surgery

Post-operatively, patients recover in our comfortable recovery room under the supervision of nurses and anesthesiologists. Most patients are discharged home after their operation with detailed instructions.

For those with major surgery or multiple surgeries, or those requesting further care after discharge from the recovery room, there are private duty nurses to help you through a safe and comfortable recovery.

Dr. Aboolian has access to some private overnight recovery facilities in Southern California that are specially trained to provide you with the best and the most conscientious nursing care. Such facilities are mostly used by our own out-of-town patients, but are also available to all patients upon request.

After recovery from eyelid surgery, you should see a rejuvenated appearance surrounding your eye area, making you look more rested and alert.
