Skin Resurfacing

Skin Resurfacing provides you smoother and brighter looking skin which is free of fine wrinkles, pigmentation, and acne scars. This may be achieved using either chemical peels or laser treatment. Chemical peels come in different strengths and different names such as phenol or trichloracitic acid (TCA). The type of chemical peel used is decided based on the goals of the patient, and the amount of recovery time available. Stronger peels have deeper penetration, and are therefore more effective in erasing acne scars, “sun spots” (light brown spots) and fine wrinkles. TCA peel is the most popular because of its fast recovery of five to seven days, effectiveness and low risk of complications.
Similar results may be obtained with laser resurfacing. Both chemical and/or laser resurfacing cause a carefully controlled burn which in turn allows for new skin growth and the activation of new collagen synthesis. The end result is a younger and tighter skin with much improvement in the fine wrinkles. “Sun Spots” (light brown spots) and acne scars.
